This is a vintage Brenkert spotlight - Not something you see everyday! (model # pending.)
I have done so much reading in effort to figure out exactly what it is I have here. I have yet to reach a definitive on that but have learned of a fascinating history of film projection I knew nothing about prior to and am now quite a fan of Brenkert, in particular, and am much-intrigued by those who share their experience of having operated such equipment in the past and/or who are fortunate enough to know how to do so at present.
I have received a few emails from different persons volunteering information as to what they believe this Brenkert to be. But without knowing the basis of the information they provided me or having been given an explanation as to for what or how this spotlight was last used, I am reluctant to draw conclusions. Nevertheless, I welcome you comments/suggestions, as I am sure they will narrow the path, however, I am most-anxious to hear some CERTAINTIES from a well-qualified with Brenkert-expertise!
In the meantime, the listing remains active, at what very-well may be (or very-well may not be!?) an agreeable price to all, but Best Offers are strongly encouraged and will all be thoughtfully considered.
Some details to note: Minor cosmetic flaws are shown in the last three pics. In the third to the last photo, you can see some flaws in the paint, which faces upwards towards the ceiling. In the second to last photo, you can see the black paint is chipped on the top, front side of the spotlight, in an area of only about 2 in. x 3 in. In the last photo, you'll see there is a crack in the glass on the inside. If you run your fingers over the crack you will not feel the crack - it feels smooth; it is cracked on the inside. I'm not sure how that will affect the lighting, if that is even the case, but, after doing some reading, this piece seems to have many options that can take its place, if need be the case. Lastly, the end of the cord needs a stage plug. Other than those few things, this is very antique, 100% authentic, and an awesome piece of history in need of a proper home. Thanks everyone! -Kate
PS- The weight and dimensions listed for the package are drastically inaccurate. I tried for over an hour to enter what I thought was accurate -which is more like over 100 pounds and twice the listed dimensions - but eBay would not accept any of the combinations I tried, so I just entered random numbers until one worked! I am paying for the shipping though, so you need not worry about the cost, but do expect a very large and very, very heavy package!
