This is a new mug from General Dynamics featuring the Virginia Class Electric Boat.  The mug holds 10 ounces and has a depiction of the submarine on the front that says "Virginia Class Confronting the Challenge Driving Out Cost".  The back is another view with "Designed for Affordability General Dynamics Electric Boat".  The Virginia class is the first U.S. Navy warship designed from the keel up for the full range of mission requirements in the post-Cold War era. Optimized for maximum technological and operational flexibility, these submarines will play a key role in the nation's defense with their stealth, firepower and unlimited endurance.
The General Dynamics Electric Boat (GDEB) is a subsidiary of General Dynamics Corporation.  It has been the primary builder of submarines for the United States Navy for more than 100 years.  The Virginia class, also known as the SSN-774 class, is a class of nuclear-powered fast attack submarines in service with the United States Navy.  The submarines are designed for a broad spectrum of open-ocean and littoral missions.  They were conceived as a less expensive alternative to the Seawolf-class attack submarines, designed during the Cold War era.  They are replacing older Los Angeles-class submarines, many of which have already been decommissioned.  Virginia-class submarines will be acquired through 2043, and are expected to remain in service past 2070.  Representing a revolution in advanced design and construction techniques and mission flexibility, Virginia-class submarines are providing the U.S. Navy with the capabilities it requires to maintain undersea superiority well into the 21st century.
