American Folk Art Trade Sign
All hand carved. The front sight, rear sight, hammer and trigger are all carved out of wood. The trigger guard appears to be made out of wrought iron.
1930s/50s?
49" end to end
16 1/2" from the top of the rear site to the center of the trigger guard
23" from the bottom of the grip to the top of the rear site
The Cylinder is about 5 1/2" thick
From the estate of a West Michigan gun and sign collector.
The piece appears to be in very good original condition aside from slight paint loss throughout. Please view all photos.
I have yet to come across another like this. Comically large, this piece is something appealing to a wide range of collectors - from primitives, to arms, Americana, etc. Even those who are not necessarily interested in "antiques" are sure to respond with an audible " Wow! " when first seen. Don't find yourself thinking about this piece after it's gone because it's sure to go quick!
