Description
Up for consideration is a vintage Enamel sign of the CTI or the Touring Club of Italy. The sign measures 11.75 by 15.75 inches. The CTI started as a cycling organization that promoted cycling tourism (later all forms of transportation) before the turn of the last century about 1894. They produced maps signs etc. to help travelers know where they would be welcome while cycling and or touring via car in Italy. The word Albergo has something to do with lodging or hotel. So while cycling in Italy if you saw this sign posted along the roadside or on a building it meant that lodging was available to you and your car or bicycle and that you were on a tourist route that other's have knowingly traveled safely on.If you have any questions or something to share please feel free to contact me.
